Is homosexuality immoral?
Can anyone explain to me (especially if you’re of a religious bent) as to why homosexuality is immoral?
I just don’t get it.

I’m not religious anymore, but when I was I understood it as an example of “divine command morality”. If the perfect creator of the universe tells you not to do something, then it’s automatically immoral to do it. There was nothing intrinsically wrong with eating the forbidden fruit, except that God said not to. By disobeying, people are saying that they can decide right and wrong better than God, and that’s the hubris behind the original sin and every sin after that.
The issue of homosexuality was what made me start questioning my religion, studying its scriptures and doctrines more closely, and eventually rejecting the whole mess. I realized that Christianity is just another form of mythology, and true morality is based on real and potential happiness and suffering.

It’s a good question and amazingly simple to answer. But the prerequisite must be that you believe the Bible is god’s true word and that he is the single giver of human morality. Once you believe that the Bible offers humanity a moral code, then you actually have no other option to accept that homosexuality is immoral.
It’s obviously daft but there you go. I don’t think it’s possible to argue that homosexuality is immoral unless the person on the other side of the debate accepts that perhaps the bible might have been written by mortal men.

It isn’t immoral. Nor is it unnatural. Religions which consider homosexuality to be immoral are basically fertility cults. That is, they believe that sperm shouldn’t be wasted on sexual activities that don’t involve procreation.

[cue music] Every sperm is sacred….
Homosexuality is also behaviourily atypical, similar to what left-handedness is. That’s often enough to make something evil to primitive societies.
