This may seem like an odd request, and isn’t anything to do with ID (although it may turn up something related) although it does involve thoughts on theology in more general terms.

Does anyone know of any specific philosophical texts relating to design and function? More specifically I’m looking for texts that discuss the design of artifacts and the use that they are put to, i.e. whether their use follows the purpose for which they are designed, or whether their intended use is ignored and they are used for an unanticipated purpose.

Any pointers or help with this search would be much appreciated.
