Things it takes 50 years to learn

Over a Scribd, there’s an e-book entitled 16 Things It Takes You 50 Years to Learn.

A couple of them stood out; the first is spot-on, the second a little more droll:

7. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

10. If there really is a God who created the entire universe with all of its glories, and he decides to deliver a message to humanity, he will NOT use as his messenger a person on cable TV with a bad hairstyle or in some cases, really bad make-up too.

A bit off-topic, but I personally liked the first one too:

1. The badness of a movie is directly proportional to the number of helicopters in it.

To me that just about sums up the end of The Day After Tomorrow.

  1. TW Says:

    I agree with 7 and 10 but not 1 - I mean, Apocalypse Now is a great film… :-)

To me that just about sums up the end of The Day After Tomorrow.

    Not to mention The Island.

But I second TW’s call re: Apocalypse Now. Perhaps Many Helicopters = Bad Movie, but Many Helicopters + Wagner = Great Movie. :)

  3. TW Says:

Blimey - I had forgotten about the Island. That was a PAINFULLY bad film.

I think there is something to be said for the helicopters:badness ratio. There are exceptions but I think the basic theory may be sound.

I like the idea that Wagner may be a modifying factor…
