Conservative humanism?
Conservative Humanism? Yes, it’s a new one on me, too.
…starting in the mid Twentieth Century, Humanism took a turn away from many of its historical axioms and even forgot the absolute conviction of valuing human life. On demand abortion, Euthanasia, and religious Environmentalism began to blight Humanism. The result is Secular Humanism which condones killing the unborn, the old, and often does not support science, knowledge, civilization or democracy. Furthermore, Secular Humanism has become a slave to pessimism and is elitist.
I’m going to read this, I’m morbid that way.

Yawn. What a laundry-list of strawmen–something we have come to expect from the “conservative” side of the political fence.
Oh well: at least it demonstrates that just being an atheist doesn’t mean that one is necessarily going to be rational.

My sentiments entirely, AV.

One of the downsides (or upsides, depending on your outlook..) of the internet is how it gives any crank, crackpot or loon a place to vent their nonsense. The conservative humanism site certainly seems like a good example…

It occured to me that you don’t need religion to be a wingnut, but it helps. :-)

The misrepresentations of modern Humanism here are wild (what AV called a “laundry list of strawmen) I have never heard a self described Humanist advocate “killing the old.” This site also has an Ann Coulter article and praises her as a “Babe with Brains.” Why an Atheistic site would praise a woman who despises and demonizes Atheists (among other groups) for a living is beyond me.
