A few months ago, I signed up to a pledge on Pledgebank that read
I will arrange for my MP to receive a copy of Richard Dawkins’ book “The God Delusion” but only if 645 other people (one per UK constituency) will do the same for other MPs.
A few minutes ago I was pleased to receive an email saying that the 646th person has signed up to do the same.
Hopefully, with all of us doing this, we might be able to raise awareness of the rôle that religion has in society, and try to minimise any damage that it causes where at all possible. I don’t expect this endeavour to be completely successful, especially with the the dyed-in-the-wool faith-heads
, but if we don’t try, we’ll never know.
Along with the book, I am going to send a letter to my MP to ask what religion, if any, he subscribes to. I feel that I am justified in asking this information if it is responsible for having any influence on his voting record in Parliament (which, I must say, has been fairly reasonable so far).
Now, I hope the book is in stock somewhere, and have to find out where my MP’s office is…

Will do. I’ve also received a follow-up email from the pledge originator, who said that he’ll be sending out further instructions soon. Hopefully it will explain where to get TGD at a discount ;-)
