Rule 1: Try not to die today

26 March 2007

I was taking a look-see at Religious Freaks and ended up reading a post about a school kid who needed a bit of help with her assignment. Some of the answers to her questions were quite interesting, but this one tickled me no end.

Q1. What religion do you practice if any?

The respondent, 10, answered like this:

Life
I’m pretty sure this counts as a religion since many beleive (sic) it’s preferable to be alive, and practice (sic) it daily.

Really easy to follow laws as well: Try not to die today.

Maybe it’s just me, but I laughed out loud at this. It’s so simple in its clarity.

One rule: try not to die today. Brilliant!

I think “Life” sounds great. I might try Life as a religion tomorrow!

I did think of another rule that might be appropriate: try not to be a dickhead. :-)

Look at this, as soon as a new religion is found and already there is a schism in it’s doctrine.

    Shame on you.

For me, Rule #2 is too hard to follow so I will stick to the pure doctrine…. You are now apostate.

    :-)

Yeah, but what are you going to do? I think I’ll nail a pancake to a door. Or something. ;-)

Ah, now you are a heretic you will have to eat burned toast in the shape of a heart….

There's probably no god. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.
