More with Makarios

31 March 2007

Further to my recent responses to Markarios, he has posted 4 (yes four!) individual posts replying to my singular comment as to what sort of thing would convince me of the existence of his god. I’ve replied to each of his four responses, which you can find at his own blog.

Response one
Response two
Response three
Response four

My responses, in summary:

I do find reverting to appeals to scripture and my emotion to be quite pointless if your desire is to have me take up the mantle of christianity.

*shrug*

Sock it to him brother! You know what would convince me? If god came down and apologized for all the christians. It would be a start at least.

I don’t blame him. He’s taken his to his bible as a camel to an oasis, and nobody can say or do anything that might, in the slightest possible way, convince him otherwise.

I am not convinced Markarios wants to convert you. I honestly feel he is trolling and just trying to get a rise. Either that or he is a manic-depressive…

p.s. just reading through his responses to you, I like this finish to one of them:

It’s God who draws people out of this rebellion and brings them to Jesus. It’s God who has revealed Himself to millions, not based on their worthiness or anything else, but based on His love, mercy and grace. “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” Guess what? It’s not going to be you. Instead, you’re one of the people about whom God says, “Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving. Make their hearts calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” That should scare you, but all you feel is slight offence, smug arrogance, enormous pride and deep self-righteousness. Sucks to be you.

    I presume this is

    Priceless.

I presume this is aimed at Dawkins (the comment is too long for me to read in full), which makes it all the more ironic.

Markarios seems to adopt pretty much every fallacy the theists have. Sadly, he is blissfully unaware of this, so seems to think he is making valid arguments.

There's probably no god. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.
