One should remember that Cameron is an actor and Comfort is a preacher, both very comfortable in front of a camera and audience. The RRs haven’t had anywhere near as much experience of public speaking.

I’m interested in seeing it, but only in a morbid rubbernecking-at-a-car-crash kind of way. I don’t expect to learn anything new.

Apparently the brain isn’t really a requirement.

I saw the “debate” on Nightline. It is true that the members of the Rational Response Squad weren’t as articulate as one would have hoped, though a chimp probably could have outshined Cameron and Comfort.

Frankly, I wasn’t even interested in what the RRs had to say. The whole idea of the “debate” was for Comfort to provide proof of his god without referring to faith or the bible. He failed to do so. Dismally. End of story.

His argument of “[m]y aim is to simply stir your conscience so it will do itâ€™s ‘god given’ duty” is just an unapologetic admission to a blatent appeal to emotion. He had no science, no evidence, no facts: nothing. Hell, he didn’t even have an argument, just wishful thinking and a guilt trip.

Was this from the video with the bloke and the girl debating with him and Kirk Cameron (Martin Bashir acting as host)?

If so, the arguments put forward by Comfort were so excruciatingly painful to watch it nearly broke me.

The Atheist debaters were like badly skills school children, yet they truly ran rings round Comfort / Cameron. If only all theists were as convincing as these two… :-)

Almost all the theists I know have said that the whole magnificent thing about belief is that you can’t prove it… I guess you just say you have to believe needlessly. Good luck with proving the existence of any god(s)! Especially yours!
