Granted, and they never seem to be able to tell the rest of us who don't already share their assumptions how it (supposedly) works, or what one can (supposedly) learn, or how to confirm what one has (supposedly) learned.

I am happy to entertain "other ways of knowing" if they can demonstrate that they work, and how they work. Unfortunately, the few times I have challenged people to provide this evidence they resort to some vague feeling or emotion they have when they day dream about their deity. Of course, it's their back luck that many people have tremendously great emotional experiences when chanting the Koran, or singing Christian rock songs in a mega-church concert, or taking voodoo powders and dancing around a fire, or being yelled at for 15 hours straight in an auditing session. Naturally, they are unable to satisfactory answer why their way of knowing is entirely accurate and the others are mystical bullshit.
