TRINITY (Theistic Rant INdicator of Inanity and TrivialitY) scale
The TRINITY (Theistic Rant INdicator of Insanity and TrivialitY) scale is designed to measure the quality of a theistic rant against a number of metrics:
BAQ or baseless assertion quotient: a percentage ratio indicating the number of baseless assertions made compared to the total length of the rant.
Appearance: as a score out of 10, for the style of the rant, consider the grammar, spelling and use of the vernacular.
Logic: as a score out of 10, for the internal consistency of the rant.
Randomness: as a score out of 10, for the quality of randomness exhibited in the rant.
Scripture: a percentage ratio indicating the number of scriptural quotations compared to the total content of the rant.
MacGuffin factor: as a score out of 10, for the amount of excuses one has to make up to justify a particular interpretation of scripture that deviates from it’s literal meaning. Can only apply when the scripture ratio is above 0%.
OTRSS (overall theistic rant satisfaction score): a score out of five as to the overall satisfaction felt by the reader of the rant.
The OTRSS score
The following are guidelines only for helping you decide as to what OTRSS might be appropriate for a particular rant. However, the OTRSS is subjective and used to provide a summary indicator only.
0/5: bogus - Lacks any bite whatsoever. Suitable for those recovering from brain surgery.
1/5: very poor - May contain some weak fallacies, although these usually are of the simple ad hominem form. May also contain some baseless assertions.
2/5: poor - Obvious use of a few simple logical fallacies that can be dismissed by a six year old. May contain some scripture and lying for Jesus. Baseless assertions may be in the 20-40% range.
3/5: average May contains some strong baseless assertions with a number of weak ones. Intermediate level logical fallacies, e.g. tu quoque, may make an appearance. Appeals to C S Lewis are usually an indicator of this score. Liberal use of scripture.
4/5: good - Might make good use of a poor analogy, some equivocation, plenty of advanced logical fallacies. Scripture may lie in the 50-65% range.
5/5: very good - Extensive quoting of scripture, deep quote mining, weapons-grade logical fallacies, intense lying for Jesus, and general making shit up. Probably has a very strong MacGuffin factor.
The OTRSS is an overall subjective reader satisfaction indicator and not a true metric for the quality of a rant. It should not be used for comparison.
