Planet Humanism

What is Planet Humanism?

Planet Humanism (http://www.planethumanism.com/) is an aggregator of humanist blogs.

Why should I join Planet Humanism?

Planet Humanism exists to create a community of humanistic bloggers, to give more exposure to humanists and about humanism.

Basically, we’d like to get humanism “out there” a bit more, and give the non-humanist population a better idea of what our principles are and who we are as people.

The bottom line is, we’re trying to increase traffic to your blog. If we do, we hope you use it wisely.

Who can join Planet Humanism?

Any blog that satisfies the following conditions can join Planet Humanism:

  • it is a blog that is updated reasonably frequently (once a month is fine)
  • it contains posts by humanists, for humanists, and/or about humanism or humanists
  • it meets with my approval of the previous conditions

I don’t update my blog too often/I’m going away for a while. Am I still eligible?

Certainly. The time limit above is more of a guideline than a rule.

However, if a blog becomes inactive, ceases to be of relevance to humanists or otherwise disappears, it may be removed warning or notification. Then again, it may not (especially if it’s very interesting).

Do I need to be an atheist/agnostic/freethinker/secularist to join?

Short answer: no.

While those who consider themselves humanists are generally atheist/agnostic/freethinker/secularist etc., there are types of humanism (e.g. humanistic judaism) that are otherwise religious or believers in something. These bloggers are also more than welcome.

Are there any content restrictions?

Generally, no. However, please bear in mind that minors may read Planet Humanism (school project, general interest, etc.) so you may want to bear that in mind.

Blogs that fulfil the above conditions but otherwise contain questionable or inappropriate content (e.g. hate speech, unabashed bigotry, complete and utter stupidity) as determined by me may be removed without warning or notification.

My blog is only partly about humanism. Is my entire blog feed used or can you just pick up the relevant humanism-related posts?

This depends on your blog set-up. Some blogging platforms, for example WordPress, allow you to have feeds for single categories. So, if you have a category for your posts about humanism, we can include that feed and only the posts you assign to that category will be included in Planet Humanism.

If you’d prefer to use a specific feed rather than your entire blog feed, let us know which feed to use when you request to join.

We don’t filter your posts, and only include those included in the feed you supply. If you don’t supply a specific feed, we’ll use your generic blog feed.
